Last updated: June 14, 2026
1. Acceptance
By accessing or using the ListenBrief API ("the API"), you agree to be bound by these API Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the API. These Terms apply to all users of the API, including developers, businesses, and any other entities that access the API.
2. Permitted Use
You may use the API to build legal applications and services. The following are prohibited:
- Using the API to abuse, scrape, or harvest data beyond your application's stated purpose
- Reselling or sublicensing raw API access to third parties
- Using the API in ways that violate any applicable law or regulation
- Attempting to reverse-engineer, circumvent, or otherwise undermine the API's security or rate limiting
- Using the API in a manner that places unreasonable load on our infrastructure
3. Rate Limits
You must adhere to the documented rate limits for your plan tier. Exceeding rate limits may result in temporary throttling or, for repeated or severe violations, suspension of your API key. See the Rate Limits documentation for current limits.
4. Data & Privacy
API keys are your sole responsibility. Do not share your API keys publicly, commit them to version control, or include them in client-side code. If you believe your API key has been compromised, revoke it immediately from your account dashboard. User data processed through the API is handled in accordance with the ListenBrief Privacy Policy.
5. Content
Generated briefings may be used for personal and commercial purposes within your application. You must not use generated content to:
- Mislead, deceive, or harm your users or third parties
- Spread misinformation or fabricated news
- Violate the intellectual property rights of any third party
6. Uptime
ListenBrief provides the API on a best-effort basis. No uptime guarantee or SLA is provided for Starter tier accounts. Growth and Scale tier customers may have SLA terms outlined in their separate agreements. We will endeavor to notify developers of planned maintenance in advance.
7. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or revoke API keys that violate these Terms, without prior notice in cases of serious violation. For minor or first-time violations, we will generally attempt to contact you before taking action. You may terminate your API access at any time by deleting your API keys from your account dashboard.
8. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the email address associated with your account and by posting an entry in the Changelog. Continued use of the API after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
